How to Get More Quora Upvotes (Free and Paid Methods)

Answer-first guide to getting more upvotes on Quora: pick the right questions, write answers readers upvote, time your posts, use Spaces, and when (and when not) to buy upvotes.

Short answer: you get more Quora upvotes by answering questions that already get traffic, putting the direct answer in the first two lines, adding something only you can say (data, a story, a screenshot), and posting early in a question's life. Paid upvotes can add early momentum to an answer that is already good, but they break Quora's rules and can be removed, so treat them as an optional, small extra, never the strategy.

1. Answer the questions people actually read

An upvote needs a reader first. Most Quora reads come from Google and from questions with lots of followers.

  • Search Google for site:quora.com your topic and answer the questions that show up on page one.
  • On Quora, prefer questions with many followers but few strong answers.
  • Skip questions that already have a 5,000-upvote answer unless you can clearly beat it.

2. Put the answer first

Quora shows a preview of roughly the first two lines. If those lines answer the question, people expand, read and upvote. If they are throat-clearing ("Great question! Let me explain…"), people scroll past.

A good pattern: direct answer → why → proof → one practical next step.

3. Add something nobody else can

The answers that collect upvotes have a personal angle: "I ran this test for 6 months", a number, a mistake you made, an image or a short list. Generic answers that read like a search summary rarely get upvoted any more.

4. Format for skimming

Short paragraphs, bold key phrases, a short list where it helps, and one image. Long unbroken blocks lose readers on mobile.

5. Post early and keep going

Answers posted in the first days of a question's life face less competition. Upvotes in the first hours also matter, because Quora uses early engagement to decide who sees an answer next. Answering consistently (a few answers a week) builds followers, and followers give each new answer its first readers.

6. Share in Spaces and with your audience

Share your answer to a relevant Quora Space you contribute to, and to your newsletter or socials where it genuinely fits. Don't spam Spaces with links. Admins remove it and readers mute you.

7. Engage in the comments

Replying to comments keeps an answer active and often brings readers back who then upvote.

Should you buy Quora upvotes?

Buying upvotes is against Quora's terms. Quora can remove votes, collapse answers or restrict accounts. What it can do: give a strong answer a bit of early social proof so more real readers see it. What it can't do: make a weak answer rank, or guarantee anything. Quora may remove paid votes and we can't control that.

If you decide to try it anyway:

  • Only boost answers that are already genuinely good.
  • Keep numbers modest and in line with the question (look at the current top answer).
  • Prefer gradual delivery to a sudden spike.
  • Never give anyone your Quora password; a public answer link is all a provider needs.

FAQ

How many upvotes does an answer need to reach the top? It depends on the question. Check the current top answer; on most long-tail questions a few dozen to a few hundred upvotes is enough.

Do upvotes affect Google rankings? Indirectly at most. Google ranks the Quora question page; upvotes affect which answer shows first on that page.

Why did my upvotes disappear? Quora removes votes it considers inauthentic, and also removes votes from accounts that get deleted.
